“How to Land a Plane: Live!” will stream this week on Air TV’s digital-first YouTube Channel First Landings.<\/b><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\"\"<\/a>Factual production company Air TV is to broadcast a live programme from a light aircraft for the first time ever in partnership with live IP-video company LiveU.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The show will allow audiences to see first-hand how to land an aeroplane, live as it happens at Air TV’s base at Leeds East Airport in Yorkshire.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It is believed to be the first time such a broadcast has ever taken place. The 40 minute special will see viewers learn in real time how to fly and land a plane, in the company\u00a0of instructors from the Yorkshire Aviation Academy.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Using several live cameras inside a light aircraft, video and audio will be streamed to Air TV’s Mobile Production Unit on the ground using LiveU’s latest multi-camera encoding solution. This will then be vision mixed together with ground cameras, presentation from the air traffic control tower and flight radar graphics for the YouTube livestream.<\/div>\n

The innovative partnership between Air TV and LiveU was born from a conversation at the 2026 Media Technology and Production Show at Olympia earlier this year.<\/div>\n

Air TV Managing Director Matt Richards said “We’re always hunting down innovative ways to use the latest technology to engage audiences in truly great moments. Building on our First Landings YouTube channel, we’re excited to start turning moments like these into interactive live events. We have absolutely loved working with the teams at LiveU and Yorkshire Aviation Academy to make this happen.”<\/div>\n

LiveU UK Sales Manager Jo van der Linde said “As soon as Air TV approached us with this project, we knew we had to be involved. It’s been a great test for our latest multi-camera production-level field units and really shows the capability of reliable live streaming in challenging environments. We’ve had a great time testing the kit with the guys at Air TV and the Yorkshire Aviation Academy, and we can’t wait to see the results later this week.”<\/div>\n
